I am a 2012 graduate of Wesleyan University. As a Studio Art and Psychology Major I have officially been painting for 2 years. On March 28 I held my first gallery show at Wesleyan's Zilkha Gallery.
I make oil paintings that combine disconnected and dislocated images of volumetric figures and animals in typically flat spaces. The disjunction between the background and foreground in each painting suggests a narrative that touches on issues of role, stereotype and the passage of time. The images I paint are inspired by my own experiences, and reference the need to look again at the actions and choices we make in life. Humor and surprise play an increasingly important role in my work.
